STRENGTH IN JESUS

We hear every year how our professional sports athletes are becoming faster, taller, and stronger.  In fact, Sports are about strength.  Sports are about doing.  Sports are about getting the most out of your potential.

One of the most common or favorite verses recited by Christian athletes is, “I can do everything through him who gives me strength.” (Philippians 4:13)  So what does this verse really mean?  Does it mean we can drive the lane and do a reverse slam-dunk?  Or make every 3 pt. shot we take?    No, this verse has nothing to do with sports.

What this verse is talking about is doing what pleases God.  And, that Jesus is the source or connection that gives us the power to do what is right and what will please God.

We can all be like those Christian athletes and recite Philippians 4:13 when we get up in the morning.  It will help remind us of our dependence on Jesus Christ.  It will help us when we do good things for others, avoid temptations, tell others about Jesus, and grow closer to God.

Make this your favorite verse because our strength is in Jesus and with Him, we can do everything for God!
